At all times normal terms and conditions apply. All rates include insurance and roadside assistance and are subject to availability. Despite the inclusion of insurance, an excess will be charged for any vehicle damage. Insurance cover is for UK mainland only.
Booking
Book and pay for your per day vehicle hire online. Collections between 9am – 10am & Returns between 8am – 8.30am Monday to Saturday. Vehicle hire over the weekend will include Saturday and Sunday at a reduced rate. If you require a specific time other than those listed, please add timings at the time of booking on special requirements.
Your rental Information
- Territorial limits: Mainland UK only
- Vehicles can only be collected/returned to our site during opening hours 0830-1730 (unless otherwise arranged).
- The responsibility for the vehicle remains with you until the keys are returned to a staff member of Garrison Selfdrive Ltd and the vehicle is checked in.
- Hirer’s are responsible for daily checks on oil, water, tyres, Adblue levels and lights. For long term hires please bring the vehicle into branch for a check over if you are unsure.
- Any fines or vehicle violations issued during your vehicle rental will be your responsibility. We will impose an administration charge of £25 per notice for any paperwork required to process incurred penalties.
- All Vehicles are tracked for insurance purposes
- Upto 250 miles inclusive with your vehicle hire per day. Mileage is chargeable at 10p per mile thereafter.
- Smoking is prohibited in all vehicles.
Payment & Deposit
Full payment is required at the time of booking. Upon collecting the vehicle, please be prepared to provide a credit/debit card for a pre-authorization transaction of £250. This pre-authorized deposit serves to cover potential costs related to light damages, tire replacement, fuel charges or excess mileage. In the event of serious damages or a total loss, appropriate charges will be billed accordingly.
Late return
Vehicles should be returned by 8:30 am on the scheduled drop-off day or by the time specified in your hire agreement. Failure to adhere to this schedule will result in a fee of £50, plus any potential loss incurred from future bookings due to the delay in returning the vehicle on time.
Cancelling your booking
We understand that travel plans may change. You have the flexibility to move your booking to another date at no charge if done prior to 72 hours before your scheduled booking. Cancellation requests will incur a third of the booking cost, and cancellations made 48 hours before the collection date will result in the forfeiture of the entire payment. Please note that any previously rescheduled dates are not eligible for a refund to maintain consistency and fairness for all our customers.
In the unlikely event that we must cancel your booking due to circumstances beyond our control, we will make every effort to offer you an alternative vehicle. If this isn’t feasible, a full refund will be provided.

Drivers
The following persons or classes are entitled to drive:
21>75 iro private cars (up to an ABI rating of 25) and commercial vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes who has held a full UK, EU or Commonwealth of Nation issued driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
25>75 iro minibuses or any private car (with a group rating of 26 – 39 inclusive) who has held a full UK, EU or Commonwealth of Nation issued driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
Notes:
- All minibus hirers/drivers are required to hold a D1 category licence.
- Hirers who hold a licence issued outside of the UK/EU/ or Commonwealth of Nations are required to have held that licence for a minimum of 24 months.
Unacceptable Hirers
- Persons who have been disqualified from driving for a period exceeding 6 months in the last 3 years or drivers who have been disqualified for a period exceeding 3 months in the past year.
- Persons who have been involved in more than 1 fault motor claim in the last 3 years.
UK driving licence and identification
UK drivers should bring their valid driving licence (original copies only) and one proof of address. Acceptable documents include utility bills and bank, or credit card statements issued within the last three months. All UK drivers should also bring their access code from the DVLA, which you can acquire from the DVLA’s online Share Driving Licence system.
Customers with an original paper licence will also need to bring photographic ID, as well as one proof of address and their DVLA access code.
Northern Ireland licence holders will not be able to generate a DVLA code and must produce both the paper and card parts of their driving licence upon collection.
EU licence holders who are residents in the UK must bring with them a domestic licence, a passport or ID card and one proof of UK address. Acceptable documents include utility bills and bank, or credit card statements issued within the last three months.
Drivers must hold a valid and full driving licence for a minimum period of four years, or, one year if the driver is over 23 years of age. Drivers must have a clear insurance record. Certain endorsed licences may or may not be accepted at the discretion of the rental location. All drivers must physically show a credit or debit card in their own name when collecting their rental vehicle.
Please be aware that your booking may be declined during the check-out process if the driver check code access is not successful.
Photo Capture
When hiring for the first time we will require a photograph of each driver to be taken and stored against your customer record. This photo will be taken at our office when collecting for the first time, however, we may require updates to this photo over time. The photo is stored for future identification, insurance purposes and in the event of a Police investigation/inquiry to confirm the hirer.
When taking the photo, we will ask the hirer to remove any fashion accessory’s that prevent the full view of the face or hair unless the scarf or head piece cannot be removed due to medical or religious reasons. These are based on the same rules applied by the government for passport photos.
Additional Drivers
Additional drivers, beyond the initial one, will incur a charge of £10.00 per driver per day. Each driver must provide their license along with a licence check code (UK license). To validate on our company insurance, each driver is required to visit a branch and be added to our booking system. Failure to be listed on the hire contract will result in the driver being uninsured, which may lead to potential prosecution. Your cooperation in adhering to these procedures ensures the proper coverage and safety for all parties involved.
FUEL
All our rental vehicles are compatible with either unleaded or diesel fuel and will be provided to you with a full tank. At the conclusion of the rental period, it is the customer’s responsibility to refill the vehicle. Fuel-related charges or shortages will incur costs at the prevailing pump prices, plus an additional refilling surcharge of £25. If your keyring features an Adblue tag, please consult your handbook or contact our rental branch for further information.
Transporting items
To maintain the quality of our vehicles, please take precautions to protect the upholstery and interior from damage and soiling during your rental period. If pets are transported, it is essential to remove all traces of animal hair and neutralize odours before returning the vehicle. Charges may apply for valeting or repairs needed, including the treatment of odours, and potential loss of rental revenue if the vehicle is returned in a condition unsuitable for re-hiring.
Additionally, it is strictly prohibited to carry hazardous chemicals in any of our vehicles. Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines ensures a positive experience for all customers.
Quality Support
Every vehicle in our fleet comes equipped with comprehensive breakdown and recovery assistance. Additionally, we provide our own 24-hour emergency contact number for your convenience. Please note that charges may apply for fault claims, such as those related to tires, flat batteries, fuel issues, road traffic accidents (RTA), Adblue, and similar incidents. Your understanding and cooperation in such situations are appreciated, and our team is available around the clock to assist you.
Types of damage
“Light Damage”: means any minor damage to the Vehicle, or the loss or theft of or damage to the Vehicle’s keys, or Accessories, Examples of Light Damage to the Vehicle include small scratches, chips or dents to any part of the Vehicle (including certain repairs to the windscreen).
“Tyre Replacement”: means any damage to the tyre which requires us to replace the tyre on the Vehicle with a new tyre.
“Serious Damage”: means any damage other than Light Damage to the Vehicle or a Tyre Replacement or a Total Loss.
“Total Loss”: means a situation where we evaluate damage caused to the Vehicle to be sufficiently serious that its repair would not be possible, or our Engineer determines it would be uneconomic or impractical to repair, we refer to this as “Total Loss”.

To ensure availability and to prevent any potential disappointment, we strongly recommend booking vehicles in advance. The models depicted and all descriptions provided are for general guidance only. While we make every effort to accommodate preferences, we cannot guarantee a specific model. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility, and our team is dedicated to providing you with the best available options during your booking.
Garrison Selfdrive Ltd retains the right to refuse rental and modify terms and conditions without prior notice, or may not adhere to published material if certain circumstances arise. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in such instances, as these adjustments are made to ensure the safety, efficiency, and integrity of our services.
